Fiber Characteristics

TRIACETATE

Manufactured Fiber

CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Luxurious hand
  • Excellent drapeability
  • Resilient
  • Excellent pleat retention
  • Washable or dry-cleanable
  • No pilling problem
  • Can have static problem

MAJOR END USES:

  • Apparel - dresses, skirts, sportswear, robes, particularly where pleat retention is important
  • Home Fashions - Upholstery

Comment - This is the only manufactured fiber discussed today which is not produced in the United States. However, both the appearance and properties of triacetate are very similar to those of acetate. The major difference is that triacetate is washable.
