A facing made of a tulle strip is practically invisible when used to hem a lace fabric. Cut a tulle strip 2 1/2 inch wide on the straight grain (tulle has more "give" on the straight grain than on the bias).
Fold strip in half lengthwise. Stitch strip to garment edge, raw edges matching, with a 5/8 inch seam allowance. In seam allowance, make a second line of stitching 1/8 inch from the first line. Trim off seam allowance close to stitching. Turn and press tulle to wrong side at seam line, and slip-stitch fold to lace.
