Name of Product: Pine Peak Blues Children's Jackets
Units: About 1,900
Importer: Nordstrom Inc., of Seattle, Wash.
Hazard: The zipper pull can detach from the jacket's zipper, posing a
choking hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: Nordstrom has received one report of the zipper pull
detaching. No injuries have been reported.
Description: The recalled jackets were sold in infant, toddler and youth
sizes. They are navy-colored and long-sleeved. They have a zipper-front
with the flag of England embroidered on the left shoulder and an
"England" patch on the left chest. There are two zipper front pockets in
addition to the zipper front. "Pine Peak Blues" is printed on a label
inside the jacket.
June 14 , 2007 - Children's Jeweled Sandals Sold by Nordstrom Recalled Due to

Name of Product: Calypso Sandals
Units: About 1,800
Importer: Nordstrom Inc., of Seattle, Wash.
Hazard: The jewel decorations on the shoes can detach, posing a choking
hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
Description: This recall involves Nordstrom brand sandals sold in
toddler and little girl's sizes. The Calypso-style shoes are tan and
white with gold straps that have three jeweled flowers on the top.
"Nordstrom" and a flower pattern are embossed on the upper sole of the
shoes. Toddler sizes were sold with an ankle strap.

May 2, 2007 - CPSC Warns About Worn Vinyl Baby Bibs
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
staff today warned that there is a potential risk of lead exposure from
baby bibs with cracked or peeling vinyl surfaces. This consumer alert
applies only to used bibs that are worn or have deteriorated. Pieces of
vinyl containing lead could pose a hazard to infants if they are
swallowed. CPSC staff recommends that parents and caregivers discard
bibs that are in poor condition to avoid any potential exposure to lead
from swallowed vinyl

Hazard: The plastic covering on the soft block towers can detach, posing
a choking hazard to infants.Incidents/Injuries: Graco has received 137 reports of infants mouthing
and chewing pieces of the plastic film covering, some of whom required
medical attention. Serious incident reports include 32 infants who
gagged and 49 who choked on the plastic covering.
May 2, 2007 - Payless ShoeSource Recalls Children's Clog Shoes Due to Choking Hazard

Hazard: Plastic rivets used to attach the strap to the shoe can detach,

March 27, 2007 - Baby Trend Recalls Back Pack Carriers Due to Fall Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Baby Trend Back Pack Carriers
Units: About 4,000

Hazard: The stitching on the strap of the carrier can loosen or detach,
causing the carrier to shift, posing a fall hazard to young children.Incidents/Injuries: Baby Trend has received one report of a child who
bruised their forehead after falling out of the carrier. Baby Trend also
received 17 reports of shoulder straps loosening from the body of the
carrier.
March 22, 2007 - Infantino Recalls Infant Sling Carriers Due to Fall Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: SlingRider Infant Carriers
Units: About 100,000
Manufacturer: Infantino LLC, of San Diego, Calif.
Hazard: The plastic slider on the fabric strap can break. This can cause
the strap supporting the carrier to release and infants to fall out of
the carrier.Incidents/Injuries: Infantino has received 10 reports of plastic sliders
breaking, including eight reports of babies falling out of the carriers.
There were four reports of impact injuries where the child was taken to
the emergency room. One of these children fractured her skull.
March 8, 2007 - Cobmex Inc. Recalls Youth Jackets with Drawstrings Due to Strangulation Hazard
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Cobmex Youth Jackets with Drawstrings
Units: About 16,000
Distributor: Cobmex Inc., of Lakewood, Calif.
Hazard: The recalled jackets have drawstrings in the hood and waist, or
only at the waist. Children can get entangled and strangle in
drawstrings that can catch on playground equipment, fences or tree
branches. In February 1996, the CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent
children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by
drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
March 8, 2007 - H & M Recalls Boy's Jackets Due to Choking, Poisoning Hazards
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of product: Boy's Jackets with an attached compass
Units: About 2,700
Distributor: H & M, of New York, N.Y.
Hazard: The attached compass on these jackets can break, posing a choking hazard for young children. Additionally, the liquid mineral oil, inside the compass can be harmful if swallowed.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm received one report of a child outside of the U.S. who began to choke on a broken piece of the attached compass. No injuries have been reported.

Hazard: The garments have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - One of the most important safety standards ever developed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) was approved today. By a vote of 3 to 0, CPSC approved a new federal standard to reduce the severity of mattress fires.
The new mandatory flammability standard for mattresses is the first major regulation passed by the CPSC in the agency's history. A major rule is one that has more than a $100 million annual impact on the economy.
When fully effective, CPSC estimates the new mandatory standard for mattresses is likely to save as many as 270 lives, preventing 78 percent of the deaths, and 1,330, or 84 percent of the injuries currently occurring every year.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Husqvarna Viking Designer I Sewing and Embroidery Machines
Units: About 55,000
Manufacturer/Distributor: VSM Group AB of Husqvarna, Sweden, and its subsidiary VSM Sewing Inc. (Husqvarna Viking), of Westlake, Ohio
Hazard: Electrical arcing can occur in the machine's power supply, posing a risk of fire.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm reports three incidents of these machines overheating and catching fire. One incident resulted in extensive smoke damage to a consumer's home, and the other two incidents resulted in minor property damage.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Shag Leather Rugs
Units: About 1,800
Manufacturer/Importer: Hellenic Rug Imports Inc., of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Hazard: The large rugs fail to meet the federal mandatory standard for flammability under the Flammable Fabrics Act and could ignite, presenting a risk of burn injuries. The smaller size rugs are missing labels identifying them as flammable.

Name of Product: Lily Chair and Lily Ottoman Bean Bag Sets
Units: About 1,100 sets
Importer: Design Ideas Ltd., of Springfield, Ill.
Hazard: The chair and ottoman do not have locking zippers or warning labels. CPSC is aware of children who have died from suffocation when they unzipped, inhaled and ingested small pellets in similar bean bag furniture.

Incidents/Injuries: Carter's has received 14 reports of snap centers detaching. No injuries have been reported.

Name of Product: Reebok Children's Windwear and Fleece Jacket and Pant Sets
Units: About 8,000
Manufacturer/Importer: Adjmi Apparel Group, of New York, N.Y. (Adjmi is an authorized licensee of children's apparel products of Reebok, of Canton, Mass.)
Hazard: The zipper slider and pull on the jackets can detach, if pulled when the jacket is open. The detached zipper slider and pull can pose a choking hazard to young children.
Incidents/Injuries: Reebok has received three reports of zipper sliders/pulls that detached. No injuries have been reported.

Units: About 730,000 1.75-ounce balls of yarn
Manufacturer/Importer: Spin Rite LP of Ontario, Canada
Hazard: "Fur Out" yarn is flammable when used as the sole yarn in a garment. Garments constructed of "Fur Out" yarn are dangerously flammable when exposed to a flame, posing a burn risk to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: Bernat has received two reports of garments made of the recalled yarn burning, with one person receiving singed eyebrows.

Name of product: Shaw Industries' "Southern Breezes" Wall-to-Wall Carpet
Units: About 5,000 square yards (about 700 individual units) of carpet
Manufacturer: Shaw Industries Inc., of Dalton, Ga.
Hazard: Due to a manufacturing error, an uneven application of a latex pre-coat treatment containing a flame retardant was applied to the carpet backing. As a result, the carpet does not meet flammability standards as required under the federal Flammable Fabrics Act. The carpet could ignite, posing a serious risk of burn injuries to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
