Oeko-Tex® The International Oeko-Tex® Association, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, was founded in 1992 by the Austrian Textile Research Institute and the German Hohenstein Research Institutes. Currently, its membership includes 15 independent textile research and testing institutes with offices in over 52 countries. To date, more than 95,000 Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certificates have been issued‹and more than 10,000 in 2009 alone‹and 9,500 companies in 91 countries are working with Oeko-Tex® to ensure that their products are tested for potentially harmful substances. The Association also offers the Oeko-Tex® Standard 1000 certification for environmentally and socially responsible textile manufacturing facilities.
  Ohmatex Founded in 2004, Ohmatex is a leader in the commercial development of prototype smart textile projects, which contain conductive yarns, ribbons and elastics. End-use applications include a prototype police uniform and a fire-fighters jacket with integrated heat sensors for VIKING Life-Saving Equipment. The company continues to focus on European collaborative projects, including Safe@Sea, Place-it, and the European Space Agency, ESA. The Denmark based Ohmatex also helped to develop a suit with sewn-in thermal sensors as an example of the intelligent clothing of the future.
  Olbo & Mehler OLBO started producing industrial textiles in Germany 130 years ago. Nearly 300 years of experience accumulated by Olbo & Mehler are reflected in the design and development of technical fabrics for a wide range of applications including automotive, pharmaceutical, mining and security and defense areas. In 1996, the company established its production plant in Portugal, near the city of Oporto. Today the company exports 100% of its production from its plant in Vila Nova de Famalicão, in north of Portugal. Europe is the main market (70%) being Germany, the main destination representing 25% of the overall turnover, followed by North America (15%), Asia (5%), Australia (5%), South America (3%) and Africa (2%).
