Sewfree® seamless garment design for technical Outerwear

Using Sewfree to bond a seam, you can enhance the design and performance of your outerwear garments. Sewfree® can be used to create:
  • Structural seams
  • Zippers
  • Pockets
  • Stays
  • Cuffs
  • Hems
  • Draw-string channels
Features of a Sewfree®
Garment:
  • Excellent washability
  • Dry clean resistant
  • The soft hand of the film makes it ideal for use in a variety of designs and fabrics.
  • Unlike thread, a bonded seam doesn't need to be color-matched. Therefore the adhesive film can be used for multiple product runs.
  • Sewfree provides a secure and lasting bond.
  • It adheres well to DWR (durable water repellency) coatings and coated fabrics.
Advantages of Using Sewfree®
  • Achieve a seamless look
  • Eliminating the need to use seam tape for the seams
  • Garments made with Sewfree are lighter weight due to the reduction in stitching and waterproofing tape.
Design Possibilities are Endless
with Sewfree®
  • Structural Seams - Seams made with Sewfree are just as strong as sewn seams. The bonded seam is unwrinkled, waterproof, and can reduce the need for additional taping. Bonded integral seams can retain the stretch characteristics of the body fabric.
  • Hood Brims - Interlining to fabric assembly is easy. The bonded brim features the rigidity required. In some instances, the need for an interlining can be eliminated.
  • Comfort Patches - Brand identification and other information is simply bonded in. The bonded patch enhances end-user comfort.
  • Outside Pockets - Bonded pockets are almost invisible and can be dressed with decorative trim for design purposes.
  • Plackets - Unwrinkled, tailored look, as well as firm hand, is achieved by folding and bonding the fabric together.
  • Drawcord Channels - Smooth channel allows for easy assembly and use.
  • Powderskirts - Attachment of the powderskirt using Sewfree eliminates additional stitching and bulk.
  • Stays - Strategic placement of bonded patches reinforce construction of interior compartments while reducing bulk.
  • Zippers - Sleek, waterproof zippers.
  • Cuffs - Using Sewfree to achieve a non-abrasive, low-profile cuff that secures closure devices and seals out moisture.

Design Process:
Once you've decided on possible patterns and fabrics, the next step is to evaluate how Sewfree adhesive film works within your application. While Sewfree can be used to replace anywhere stitching is used, design and manufacturing conditions need to be addressed in the design stages. Differences in fabrics, coatings, desired results, and equipment are factors that need to be addressed in the design stages. Bemis has over 50 years experience in providing adhesives and films for a variety of apparel sectors. Our research and development laboratory features the latest in analytical and industry equipment. Bemis offers a free fabric analysis. If you send your pattern and fabrics, Bemis will provide you with a bonded sample, as well as the processing conditions needed to create a secure and successful bond in your specific application. Processing factors such as the required temperature, dwell time, and pressure are provided in the report. In addition to the report and bonded sample, our technicians typically provide useful comments and suggestions to improve upon the original objective.
