TIPS FROM A FASHION PRO

Dianne deWitt, fashion and trend consultant to the Woolite Fashion Forum™ and a well-known international fashion model and television personality, offers some favorite shopping tips, developed for her wardrobe consulting firm, At Your Best:

  • The right undergarments can enhance the look and fit of a garment, but don’t purchase something too small with the intention of losing weight. Wait till you shed the pounds and then celebrate by shopping for something special to show off your new figure.
  • Take Polaroids of the key items in your wardrobe for reference when you go shopping. Use them to find new ways to combine your outfits.
  • Some fashion looks never really go out of style, so hold on to your favorite wardrobe pieces and accessories! Animal prints are a great example of timeless fashion, along with chain belts and scarves.
  • Toss the wire hangers. Your fine clothes will hold their shape and be more accessible with plastic or wood hangers. And always keep a good quality lint brush on hand, and in your suitcase for travel.
  • Find out when local stores hold their best sales. Coats are usually on sale on Columbus Day; summer clothes before Memorial Day.
